Dear Reader, On Aug. 24, 2007, Dr. Kurt Richebächer passed away at the age of 88. Over the course of his 70-plus years studying finance and working in the banking industry, Dr. Richebächer developed many close relationships. Longtime market guru Richard Russell... best-selling financial authors Doug Casey and William Bonner... Barron's contributor and editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer Jim Grant... former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker... all called Dr. Richebächer a personal friend. Paul Volcker himself once said, "Sometimes I think it's the job of each Fed chairman to try to prove Richebächer wrong." Dr. Richebächer will be remembered as a man who stood by his convictions -- warning investors of the trouble he saw in the U.S. economy. He predicted the market crisis in tech stocks in 2000–2001… the steep fall of the U.S. dollar… and, most recently, the dangers of the housing bubble. We’re working hard to find an editor to continue Dr. Richebächer’s important work at The Richebächer Letter. As you can imagine, the good doctor is not an easy man to replace. At this time, we are no longer taking subscriptions to The Richebächer Letter. However, to pay tribute to Dr. Richebächer, we’ll use the next six months to republish some of his classic issues. Once a month, Richebächer members will receive a classic issue -- completely FREE. We will also let you know where we are in the process of finding someone to take over the reins of the letter. If you’re a Richebächer Letter member and have any questions about your subscription, please feel free to call our customer service center at 1-800-708-1020.
